The Cardiff Met prop made his club debut against Toulouse in the 2021 European Champions Cup, as the majority of the first team squad were quarantined in South Africa amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cowell was a full-time student at the time and spent four years at Cardiff Met, captaining the side in his final season and capable of playing on both sides of the scrum.
Now focusing on playing tight-head, Cowell signed a full-time contract with the Blue & Blacks ahead of the 2024-25 season.
