Martyn Williams and his Cardiff Blues' team received fullsome praise from David Young after the 31-6 victory over Connacht at the Arms Park.
The director of coaching said, "This was not a great performance but it was our first real team effort of the season. I reminded the senior players beforehand of their responsibilities on the pitch and every one of them responded magnificently. There were good contributions from them all but a fine example was set by Martyn. You couldn't ask more of him as a player or captain based on his performance in this match.
"Obviously I am pleased with the result and for the players it's a reward for their hard work and ability to pick themselves up after last week's setback.
"Now we can start thinking about our trip to Edinburgh next week. We need an away win and we are capable of doing it at Murrayfield. But we have a healthy respect for Edinburgh and know we will need to be at our best if we are to gain that victory."
