Wing wonder Cuthbert pushing for recall

Attack Coach Paul John has revealed winger Alex Cuthbert is back in training and pushing for a recall for the Guinness PRO12 clash with Scarlets at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4pm).

Cuthbert underwent successful minor surgery on a finger injury to his right hand last month.

However, the Wales international – this week named in the Barbarians squad to face Ireland and England later in the month – has now returned to the first team set-up at Cardiff Blues and could now feature in the Welsh league derby this weekend.

“Cuthy is back training with us,” revealed John. “He had a minor operation to sort a finger and that has been corrected.

“He is available and hopefully if he comes through the week we can look to get him in the selection.

“Cuthy has trained really well for us over the last six weeks and wants to get back involved.

“It was best that he got the operation done now, while we had a bit of a window, and he is looking to put himself in the mix to play Sunday.

“We are looking forward to the last two games and doing all we can to get a performance.”
