We can keep our heads held high – Beddall

Harry Beddall was proud of how Cardiff under-18 showed consistent progress throughout their Regional Age Grade Championship campaign.

Cardiff won three of their four encounters, with the Championship decider going down to the wire.

And while the Dragons ultimately secured a dramatic winner at Ystrad Mynach in difficult conditions, Beddall – who captained the Blue and Blacks and scored a try on the night – insists his side can keep their heads held high after a successful campaign.

“There are lots of positives to take from the campaign as a whole, even if we couldn’t quite finish off the job at the end,” said the Hartpury College pupil.

“We knew Dragons would come out firing after half time, like they did, but we managed it well for the first 20 minutes of the second half.

“It was going well, and we got on the scoreboard a couple of times, but unfortunately their driving line-out got us at the end, so we’re pretty gutted. But as a group we can be positive about the bigger picture here.

“The conditions weren’t great, and didn’t help a game of rugby, but both sides did really well in the situation.

“We’ve come on loads over the course of the campaign. You look back at the game against Ospreys, where we left a few opportunities out there, but you look at us against Dragons and I think we were a completely different team.”
