BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park will play host to all Wales Women home matches this season (2016/17).
First up will be a Wales Women XV match against Scotland Women on Saturday 29th October (KO 12:00). Although Scotland haven’t beaten their Welsh counterparts on the road since 2005, the last time they tasted victory against Wales Women was at the Arms Park in 2004 – meaning the women in red will have a point to prove against their Celtic foes.
A fortnight later, on Friday 11th November (KO 19:30), the Wales Women XV will compete in a Remembrance Day match against the UK Armed Forces.
Drawn from the best of the three armed services – the Army, Royal Navy and the RAF – the UK Armed Forces have a proud touring history, with several Wales internationals having previously featured for the side.
“Being able to call BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park the home of Wales Women this season is fantastic news for us,” said head coach Rowland Phillips. “It’s a sign of the progress the women’s game is making in this country that we’re able to host our upcoming matches here in the capital city, and I fully expect us to get some big crowds there.”
“We’ve got two tough opening fixtures this Autumn against Scotland and the UK Armed Forces, so this is an opportunity for players to get themselves noticed – especially with the 2017 Six Nations on the horizon in a few months’ time.”
Tickets for Wales Women’s Autumn fixtures go on sale today priced at Adults £5 / U16s £1 for each match, and can be purchased online, in the WRU Store, or by calling 02920822432.
Details for Wales Women’s upcoming Six Nations fixtures will be released soon.
