Five Cardiff Blues players were involved in the victory, with Ben Thomas a late call-up to the starting line-up, following injury to regional team-mate, Ben Jones.
Replacement prop, Rhys Carre, was one of the side's stand-out performers in Perpignan, making impact with ball in-hand and in the scrums.
New Zealand topped Pool A, after a convincing win over Australia, meaning Wales will compete for fifth place in the Championship.
