Title: Financial Accountant

Contract: Full Time, subject to a 6 month probationary period
Reports to: Interim Finance Director
Working hours: 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday. Plus match days
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Job purpose: The role is a key part of the finance team reporting to the Interim Finance Director. It offers fantastic exposure across the business including opportunities to deputise for the Interim Finance Director with guidance and development. A key objective of the role is to assist in the implementation of efficient and robust financial practices, ensuring good governance, especially around the company balance sheet, financial reporting and banking operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate and timely financial reports covering various metrics as required by the Board and Heads of Department
• Support statutory and internal reporting requirements for Cardiff Blues Limited, Cardiff Blues Benevolent Trust and Cardiff Blues Community Foundation
• Assume day-to-day responsibility for the systems of financial control including, but not being limited to; ensuring that all general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly on a timely basis; monitoring the adequacy of payment approval methods; assessing the adequacy of cash-handling procedures; ensuring compliance with policies regarding authorisation of expenditure; assisting in the exercise of budgetary control
• Manage, supervise and train staff within the Finance Team
• Maintain relationships with external stakeholders including HMRC, auditors, external consultants, banks, investors, customers and suppliers

Skills and Experience

Essential

• Qualified Accountant with ACA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW or ACCA
• Experience of accounting under IFRS or UK GAAP
• Experience of performing cashflow forecasts and financial reporting
• Strong academic background and interpersonal skills
• The ability to communicate effectively and influence all types of people at all levels of management

Desirable

• Knowledge and use of Sage 50 Cloud Professional
