Christopher Nott, a non-executive director of Cardiff Rugby Football Club Ltd and the joint managing partner of the solicitors, Capital Law, has this afternoon issued the following statement concerning Derwyn Jones.
"Cardiff Rugby Football Club Ltd has summarily dismissed Derwyn Jones for gross misconduct and breach of contract.
Last week Christopher Nott, a non-executive Director of the company, conducted a disciplinary hearing at which Mr Jones was required to answer allegations that since agreeing to join the Ospreys, whilst in contract with Cardiff, he had been disclosing confidential information to them and had been actively enticing a Cardiff Blues player to switch allegiance amongst other allegations.
Mr Nott decided that Mr Jones was guilty of a gross breach of trust towards Cardiff Blues, its management, players and supporters and also condemned him for acting reprehensibly during the disciplinary hearing. He found that Mr Jones had not acted honestly and in good faith towards Cardiff Blues and noted that he even admitted lying to the Ospreys in his negotiations with them.
Mr Nott is also the joint Managing Partner of solicitors Capital Law, an experienced employment lawyer and an Employment Tribunal Chairman, in which capacity he decides unfair dismissal cases."
The statement ends.
