Matt Sherratt has called on the Cardiff faithful to pack the Arms Park once again as the Blue & Blacks return to action on Saturday.
Following a five week hiatus for the Autumn Nations Series, Sherratt’s men return to their home patch for a massive East Wales derby against the Dragons (17:15).
They go into the encounter refreshed but also on the back of an emphatic comeback victory against Ulster, in which they overturned a 19-point deficit at a raucous Arms Park.
And Sherratt is hoping for another bumper crowd to drive Cardiff on in the BKT United Rugby Championship.
“During the last couple of years our crowds have been brilliant at the Arms Park. Ever since I took over as head coach really, our supporters have got behind the team – they have understood the challenge we have faced but turned out on a weekend and really made themselves heard.
“They have been passionate, knowledgeable and just really supportive of what we are doing, while making the Arms Park a really special place to play.
“That means an enormous amount to me, the team and everyone involved in the club. We have been very clear that we want to fight for the badge and try to put an enjoyable product on the pitch and the fans have completely bought into that.
“With the sellouts we enjoyed last year, against the Scarlets last month and the atmosphere against Ulster, it makes a huge difference to the players on the pitch.
“Hopefully we can have a similar turnout on the weekend. We have two hungry Welsh teams going head to head on Saturday, it’s under the lights and we have the opportunity to showcase all that is good.
“There is always a buzz around the group in derby week and I know everyone is really excited to get out there on Saturday evening and give their all against our nearest rivals.”
It is certainly an action-packed day at Cardiff Arms Park, as the club hosts a second consecutive double-header with Cardiff RFC taking on Pontypool in Super Rygbi Cymru (2pm).
Supporters are encouraged to welcome the first team to the Arms Park by congregating outside the clubhouse for 15:35 for their arrival.
There will also be a fully interactive smartphone light show as the home side run out, while Josh Navidi will be entertaining the crowd with a guest DJ set.
