Luke Scully has joined Cornish Pirates on loan for the remainder of the season.
The former Wales U20 fly-half joined Cardiff Blues from Worcester Warriors last summer but is yet to make a competitive appearance for the region.
It was hoped Scully would combine a full time training schedule with the senior squad with regular game time for Cardiff Blues A and Cardiff RFC but that has not been possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He will now secure vital match minutes in Cornish Pirates Greene King IPA Championship campaign.
Cardiff Blues interim Director of Rugby, Dai Young said: “One of the major challenges for clubs throughout this period is ensuring young players can continue their development.
“With no A league fixtures and no Welsh Premiership, Luke has not had the opportunities he would have hoped for but this is a great chance for him to link up with a quality outfit.
“The Championship is a highly competitive league and Luke will now benefit from regular game time before returning to us in the summer.
“We wish him all the very best for the move and will keep a close eye on his progression in Cornwall.”
