Scott Andrews is the fifth and final front-row forward to agree a new deal to remain at Cardiff Blues.

The news comes following similar announcements that Rhys Gill, Brad Thyer, Kirby Myhill and Ethan Lewis have all signed similar contracts at the Arms Park on #FrontRowFriday.

Andrews has now made 167 appearances for the Blues, since making his senior debut 11 years ago. He was also part of both European Challenge Cup winning squads and has racked up 14 Wales caps.

But the tight-head prop is raring for more and is optimistic about the future at Wales’ Capital region.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to the next few years at Cardiff Blues. I’ve been here for more than 10 years and had so many great experiences.

“Unfortunately, we have lost some experience recently, but we have a very good group of quality, young players, who are the future of the region. With that we have a good compliment of players who possess a wealth of regional and international experience.

“These are the guys who will drive the region forward and I’m looking forward to playing my part in it over the coming years.”

Andrews will compete for a spot on the tight-head with fellow Wales international Dillon Lewis, Dmitri Arhip and the up and coming Keiron Assiratti.

And Cardiff Blues head coach John Mulvihill believes his experience and all-round ability suits the front-five perfectly.

He added: “Scott Andrews is a hugely experienced professional, who has been in the international game, and gives 100 per cent in every single training session and game.

“Scott possesses a really competitive nature and makes his presence felt on both sides of the ball with his mobility and physicality. He complements our front five with that experience, power and rugby ability.”
