Welsh rugby supporters can secure their tickets at early bird prices to see all four Welsh regions in Guinness PRO14 action this season, as the general sale for match tickets begins at 10am tomorrow.
To celebrate the new season starting in six weeks’ time Cardiff Blues, Dragons, Ospreys and Scarlets have joined forces to co-ordinate tickets going on sale for the first time, with early bird prices guaranteeing supporters the best prices to see each region in action.
The season commences with last season’s champions Leinster in the Welsh capital as European Challenge Cup winners Cardiff Blues do battle with Champions Cup and PRO14 double champions at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday 31st August (kick off 7.35pm). Simultaneously 45 miles west down the M4, it’s the Ospreys versus Richard Cockerill’s Edinburgh at the Liberty Stadium.
The next day, last year’s finalists the Scarlets travel to Belfast to take on Ulster at Southern Kingspan Stadium (5.15pm), before the West Wales region host PRO14 champions Leinster at Parc y Scarlets the following weekend. The final Welsh team in action on the opening round of fixtures are the Dragons with much changed Men of Gwent playing Benetton Rugby at Rodney Parade (7.35pm).
The tournament featured 297 international players across the 21 rounds of fixtures last season and enjoyed a 10% bump in attendances, with a record number of tries (861), at an average of 5.9 touchdowns per game during the last campaign.
Furthermore, the Guinness PRO14 has been buoyed by the confirmation of new TV broadcast partners, with Premier Sports 1 screening every game of the competition live and in HD in to UK homes. Each week free-to-air digital TV station Free Sports will also broadcast one fixture into UK homes.
Cardiff Blues supporters can now purchase tickets priced from £16 for all home fixtures at Cardiff Arms Park across the first 17 rounds of the competition at www.cardiffblues.com
