Blues scrum-half Ryan Powell, who has been sidelined for six months by a shoulder injury, will test his match fitness this week.
He will play for one of the region's Premier Division clubs, Llanharan, against Neath next Wednesday evening.
Director of coaching David Young said, "Ryan has had to be very patient whil he recovered from surgery but now he is raring to go. He is a bundle of enthusiasm at any time but, even by his standards, he's bubbling at the moment. Playing for Llanharan in a tough match against Neath will be a real tet for him and he's looking forward to it."
After Wednesday's match the Blues' coaching staff will assess Powell's readiness to return to action with the Blues, either against the Scarlets next weekend, or Glasgow Rugby a week after that.
