A Cardiff Rugby Community Foundation initiative to develop the next generation of coaches culminated with a successful tag rugby festival at Crickhowell this week.
15 rugby leaders from Crickhowell High School - who are studying with Cardiff Rugby’s BTEC course - have been deployed to the local primary school, running sessions for children throughout the school term.
The rugby leaders were led by Cardiff community coach Ryan Meredith and every single pupil from Year Three to Year Six at Crickhowell Primary School took part in the tag festival, with many enjoying their first taste of rugby.
With more than 120 local children taking part, coaches from the new mini and juniors section at Crickhowell RFC were also in attendance, alongside members of the Red Kites girls hub, with children encouraged to continue their rugby participations in their local community.
The Community Foundation officers deliver a number of programmes, workshops and initiatives across primary and secondary schools throughout the region to promote the positive impacts of rugby to children in our the community.
