Cardiff Blues are delighted to confirm Macron as their new technical sponsor ahead of the 2018-19 season.
The Bologna-based sporting apparel company replace Canterbury, who have been Wales’ Capital Region’s kit supplier for more than 10 years.
This exciting new partnership will see all Cardiff Blues age-grades, the Ladies set-up and the senior men all supplied with bespoke kits.
The majority of both the teamwear and leisurewear ranges have been designed specifically for Cardiff Blues, combining traditional styles with unique fine details.
Cardiff Blues chief executive Richard Holland said: “We’re delighted to sign this new sponsorship with Macron and are really excited about what the future holds working together.
“We are very grateful to Canterbury for all the years we have worked together but see this as an exciting opportunity for change and have been impressed with all of our dealings with Macron so far.
“They have made huge strides in recent years and are now firmly established as a top quality rugby supplier.
“The deal sees a substantial uplift in commercial value and the opportunity to kit out not only our first team but also all of our age-grades and the women was too good to turn down.
“The vast majority of the range is designed bespoke to Cardiff Blues and we have been delighted with everything we have seen so far.
“Our players were all very impressed with the quality, fit and technical specification of all the products they have sampled and we can’t wait to launch the full range.
“I am confident both our players and supporters will be thrilled with the final product.”
Cardiff Blues are the fourth Guinness PRO14 team to be supplied by Macron, following on from Edinburgh Rugby, Glasgow Warriors and the Scarlets.
The Italian manufacturer also supply their national team plus the likes of Northampton Saints, Section Paloise, LOU Rugby and Biarritz Olympique.
Several senior Cardiff Blues players tested a host of products from across Macron’s range and provided positive feedback on the design, quality, feel and technical aspects, which all exceeded their expectations.
The new 2018-19 Cardiff Blues home and alternate jerseys will be launched on pre-sale in early July and the European jersey at a supporters' event to be confirmed in due course.
