Max Llewellyn is determined to sign off from Cardiff on a high and has set his sights on the European Challenge Cup.
The homegrown centre will move to Gloucester in the summer after opting to secure his future early during the well-documented challenges in the Welsh professional game.
Llewellyn is one of several players who will leave the club at the end of the season but that is adding fuel to the fire with the squad motivated to achieve something before they break up.
He said: “That's something especially I want but there's a lot of people in the group now that could be moving on at the end of the year. It’s the last few games we could be playing together and everyone at the club wants to make it special.
"I am looking forward to it (Gloucester) but I'm just looking forward to concentrating on the last few games we have this season because we have a chance to end on a high. That's something I'm looking forward to."
“We're certainly in a position now to be challenging for that and I think we all believe that we can.
“There's a bit of history within the club and even speaking to all the boys they’ve played in this sort of competition.
“So it's something everyone's looking forward to and everyone thinks we can do well in it. Even last week we had the confidence that we could go and beat Sale and we did.”
Cardiff face Benetton in the quarter-finals of the competition on Saturday (3pm UK) and Llewellyn is looking forward to the challenge, albeit a different one presented by Sale.
The last time the two sides met, Cardiff cruised to victory, in which Llewellyn was instrumental, but memories of a heavy defeat in Italy last season are still raw.
Llewellyn added: “We have exactly the same mindset this week going into this game. They have different styles of play - Sale are quite upfront and confrontational where as Benetton are a bit looser.
“They like to chuck the ball about but again we've played them already this season so we kind of know what to expect with them. We are looking forward to it.
“We still remember it (last season) and I think we're looking to go out there and right some wrongs. It's definitely a performance that we weren't happy with and that's not really. acceptable.
“But we're in some good form at the moment. We're trying to keep that going and concentrate on ourselves and hopefully we can go out there and get the win.”
