The Aspen Waite Lions Locker Room have confirmed a star-studded line-up of guests, who know all about touring South Africa and taking on the mighty Springboks.
Four former Lions and Wales favourites will join host Tom Shanklin at the iconic Cardiff Arms Park where you can enjoy an electric atmosphere as Warren Gatland’s side - including Cardiff duo Josh Adams and Josh Navidi - take on World Champions, South Africa in a mouth-watering three-match series.
The Test series kicks off on Saturday, July 24, and we will be joined at Cardiff Arms Park by two former Cardiff stars, who toured the Rainbow Nation in 2009.
Taking centre stage on the opening weekend will be Jamie Roberts - a man who has been there and done it all. The former Cardiff centre was named Man of the Series in South Africa in 2009 before later playing a crucial role in the victorious tour to Australia in 2013.
He will be joined by the ever-charismatic Andy Powell. The former international back row has a reputation as one of the most entertaining guest speakers with a host of hysterical tales from him professional days.
The following week will see two fan favourites joining the panel. Former scrum half Robert Jones is a two-time Lions tourist who also played club rugby in South Africa with Western Province.
Alongside Jones will be Lee Byrne - a former Grand Slam-winning full back who was also part of the Lions contingent in 2009.
The screening for the final Test will once again welcome Powell back to the Aspen Waite Lions Locker Room with the final guest to be confirmed shortly.
Held in association with Genero, guests will also be treated to a three-course meal, complementary bar, the match on the big screen and post-match entertainment - offering a perfect evening to celebrate one of the highlights of the rugby calendar.
Looking ahead to the occasion, host Shanklin said: “I’m really excited by the line-up we’ve put together this year. Not only will they bring top class analysis but the stories and insight of life on tour with the Lions is priceless. They’re worth the ticket price alone.
“We’re always looking for ways to make sure this is a unique rugby experience for those who attend.
“Ever since The Locker Room was brought to Cardiff Arms Park - one of the true pantheons of world rugby - we’ve had some brilliant occasions but, with the hype and excitement that always surrounds the Lions tour, we’re certain that it will be taken to the next level this year.
“We know all about the unbelievable travelling support that usually follows the Lions. While we’re all naturally disappointed not to be making the trip over to South Africa this year, we’re confident the Locker Room will be the next best thing for those looking to enjoy a match-day atmosphere from Wales.”
