Cardiff rugby can confirm Lewis Jones has left the club on a permanent basis.
The scrum-half, who came through the regional pathway and signed his first senior contract in 2012, joined the Dragons on loan earlier this season.
Since moving to the Newport-based club, Jones has played two matches.
However, with further opportunities at Cardiff next season potentially limited, it has been agreed by all parties to end the 29-year-old's contract.
Cardiff director of rugby, Dai Young said: “We would all like to thank Lewis for all of his efforts at Cardiff Rugby over the last 10 years. To amass more than 100 first team appearances is no mean feat and Lewis can be extremely proud of his contribution to this club.
“With two established international scrum-halves and number of up-and-coming players, who have earned age-grade honours, we are well stocked in the position.
“Lewis has done well at the Dragons this season and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
Jones came through the club’s academy and earned his senior contract on the back of an impressive period with Pontypridd.
Since making his senior debut against the Ospreys in 2011, and signing that senior contract the following year, Jones has made 120 first-team appearances scoring 12 tries.
He added: “I would like to thank Cardiff Rugby for giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love for the past 10 years. I have met some friends for life throughout my time at Cardiff and for that I’m very grateful.
“Reaching 120 caps for my first professional club was a massive achievement for me and one I am very proud of and for that I thank Cardiff Rugby.
“I would like to wish Cardiff all the best in the future and look forward to returning to the Arms Park in the away changing room now. I look forward to my new chapter at the Dragons, and continuing to compete at the highest level.”.
