Seven year old Iestyn Middle, who sadly has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, recently attended the Cardiff Blues training head quarters at the Vale of Glamorgan Hotel along with Wooden Spoons Development Director, Bob Harris.
Iestyn arrived with his mam, dad, brother and sister to be welcomed by Victoria McCracken (Blues Rugby Administrator) who despite having a broken ankle, arranged for Iestyn to meet the whole squad, who were absolutely brilliant, with every player speaking with him and signing his jersey and ball.
They also posed for pictures with Iestyn, which really brought a smile to his face, especially when Welsh Grand Slam Captain, Sam Warburton appeared and sat and chatted with him. Iestyn’s spontaneous response, quite simply brought tears to all our eyes – ‘Dad, this is the best day of my life’
We are so grateful to the Cardiff Blues – Thank You Boys (and Victoria) you really made Iestyn and his family so welcome – A day they will never forget.
It also makes what we do at Wooden Spoon so worthwhile!!!
