They did it! Dozens of cyclists completed an epic fundraising bike ride as they finished under the Eiffel Tower is Paris on Saturday afternoon to complete their journey from Cardiff for #StayStrongForOws.
After four long days in the saddle – and over 320 miles – the riders completed the challenge that had started at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park – the home of Cardiff Blues – on Wednesday morning.
Owen Williams – the reason why the ride had taken place – was among those who met the riders at the finishing line.
Blues launched the fundraising and awareness campaign - #StayStrongForOws – last year for injured player Owen. The Wales international suffered a significant injury while playing for Cardiff Blues in the World Club 10s and is currently at Rookwood Hospital in Cardiff.
Owen remains on the long-term road to recovery as he undergoes his rehabilitation and so last week his family, friends, team-mates and staff all showed their support with a charity bike between the Welsh and French capitals.
Owen’s father Huw, brother Gavin, team-mates Lloyd Williams and Owen Jenkins plus coach Paul John among those to hit the road for charity.
And they completed the ride – and with it raised tens of thousands of pounds for #StayStrongForOws – on Saturday afternoon.
On behalf of all the cyclists, a huge thank you to all those that supported them along the way and the messages of good luck over the four days!
All proceeds will now go to fund care for Owen in conjunction with the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust.
