Director of Rugby Mark Hammett admits it is crucial Cardiff Blues make the BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park 'a tough place for teams to come' as the new Guinness PRO12 season prepares to explode into life on home soil this weekend.
Blues entertain Glasgow Warriors on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4pm) as they look to build on a bonus point victory over Zebre in the Italian sunshine on day one of the new league season.
The home side will be under no illusions as to the size of the task ahead as Glasgow impressed as they defeated champions Leinster with a last-gasp penalty on the opening weekend.
Hammer said: “It’s important that we make our home a tough place for teams to come.
“But just because you think it or want it doesn’t mean it is going to happen and we have got to buy into that and know what that looks like. To make a home a fortress would be nice, but words are cheap, we need to perform.
“We go up against Glasgow and I thought they were exceptional on the first weekend and should have won by a clearer margin against Leinster.
“We are excited about playing at home and it will be fast and open on our home pitch.
“You get judged by your results, but the fans can see if our hearts and minds are into the game, whether we win or we lose.
“That is what we will always demand and that is what our leaders within the group are demanding. We go out and leave everything on the Arms Park and nothing to chance.”
