Taulupe Faletau says the Wales squad will pull together in their hunt for a first win in the 2023 Guinness Six Nations.
Warren Gatland’s men head to Rome, where they will take on Italy on Sunday with the Cardiff number eight set for his 99th cap in a Wales jersey.
With both sides heading into the clash after defeat in all three opening matches, Faletau insists the squad are working tirelessly on the training ground in order to turn around their fortunes.
“Things haven’t gone the way we wanted them to, but we are just trying to work together and get better results moving forward,” said the three-times British and Irish Lions tourist.
“The mood has been positive, and we spoke last week about there are only two weeks left. We want to enjoy the last two weeks together.
“The results haven’t come. We are still working hard to put things right.
“We’re all just trying to do the basics. The errors in our game haven’t helped us, and also our discipline. It’s about getting the basics right and just trying to enjoy ourselves on and off the pitch.
“Italy have been pretty impressive with the performances they’ve put in. They’ve been a tough team to play and I’m sure it’ll be the same on the weekend.
“Last year’s defeat to them still hurts. We’ve got a lot of work to do, and we are going to look to make those improvements on the weekend.”
With the Rugby World Cup held in France later this year, Faletau is confident that the squad will make continual progress with new players and coaches introduced.
“I’m confident in the squad and the players. We’ve got some really talented players, individually that is, but we’ve got to come together as a team,” added Faletau.
“I don’t see a reason why we can’t do that. Now Warren is back as coach, everybody is trying to adapt to the way he wants us to play.
“It doesn’t happen overnight but with time we’ll get to know how he wants us to play. Things should be better.”
