Seb Davies was left extremely proud of the group effort in Cardiff’s opening Heineken Champions Cup clash with Toulouse.
The Blue and Blacks - who had 42 players missing due to a combination of injuries, quarantine and suspension - gave an admirable performance against the French outfit, but Antoine Dupont inspired the defending champions to victory.
However, with the focus now turning to a clash with English champions, Harlequins, Davies believes his side can take learnings from the opening clash as they travel to Twickenham Stoop.
“It was great. The crowd were fantastic and it was one of the best crowds I’ve had down at the Arms Park," said the Welsh international.
“It was a great day for everyone involved, even though the result didn’t go our way.
“I thought that it was a great week leading into the game and everyone enjoyed the game as well.
“In the week we’d said there wasn’t a massive amount of pressure on us. We simplified the menu and the structures so everyone could be as competent as they could on the weekend.
“That showed and the whole it was great.
“This week is going to be another tough challenge. It’s a bit of a cliché but all games are tough.
“Similar to last week, there won’t be a huge amount of pressure on us. We just need to do as well as we can.
“Toulouse were probably fortunate on a couple of tries, but if we limit those opportunities for Harlequins then hopefully we can nick it at the end.
“I was really proud of all of the boys’ efforts. As the front five, we were middle of the field defence and there were some big shots going in.
“There was a lot of good talk and I was very proud of the boys. The boys who have been here for a while as well as the boys coming in did fantastically well.”
Davies made four appearances for Wales during the recent autumn campaign, taking his international cap tally to 13.
The academy graduate says he’s enjoying his rugby and hopes to carry momentum into the Blue and Black jersey.
“I had quite a bit of game-time over the autumn with Wales, which I was pretty happy about,” added the former Ysgol Glantaf and Coleg y Cymoedd pupil.
“Coming back here, I obviously didn’t go to South Africa but I’m playing in these couple of games.
“It’s going well and I’m pretty happy with how I’m playing and training so I’m pleased at the moment.”
