Davies named at 15 as Wales target fifth place

Pathway | 21st June 2019

Ioan Davies has retained the number 15 jersey as Wales under-20 take on England in the World Rugby U20 Championship's fifth-place play-off.

The Cardiff Blues academy star has been ever-present at full back for Gareth Williams' side, who have racked up wins over Fiji, New Zealand and hosts Argentina during the campaign.

Davies was involved in a hotly debated tackle against the Baby Blacks last time out, which saw back row Samipeni Finau receive a yellow card and later cited for the challenge.

A total of seven changes is made to the starting line-up, as centre Max Llewellyn is ruled out with an injury, and is replaced by Deon Smith in midfield.

Further changes amongst the backline sees Tomi Lewis and Harri Morgan return to the XV, with four changes made also made in the pack.

A trio of Cardiff Blues youngsters - forwards Ben Warren, Teddy Williams and Ioan R Davies - are also named amongst the replacements for the Rosario encounter.
