Cardiff Blues stars including Wales internationals Ben Evans, Gareth Williams and Ryan Powell added their weight to the Tesco Childrens Festival last weekend.
The Cardiff festival, Summer In the City, kicked off in fine style with a weekend of highlights for the hundreds of families that came to Coopers Field.
The players were on hand to meet supporters, sign autographs and promote the regions Family Fun Day on 24th July. On Sunday though there was an even more special appearance as the Blues marquee became home to the 6 Nations trophy for the day. Children, parents and grandparents queued up for the chance to get their hands on the trophy and a photo for their mantelpiece.
However, perhaps the pick of the entertainment came when Craig Quinnell joined in the touch rugby coaching with fifteen young players in the Sport.Cardiff inflatable arena!
Earlier in the week the trophy was on show at its true home, the Millennium Stadium, as the girls national touch and tag finals took place. It proved to be the star attraction for teams taking part, including Ysgol Gyfun Plasmawr who led by current Wales international and Player of the Year, Catrin Edwards, fielded two teams in the finals at U19 and U13.
Other representatives from the region included Llanishen, Treorchy and Ysgol Bro Morgannwg at U-13s &16s.
Girls Development Officer Nadine Griffiths said,
All the teams did exceptionally well here today, especially Plasmawr who have once again come out on top against some very good opposition.
Its a fine way to end the season, and with the Millennium Stadium as the venue and the trophy on show, we could not ask for more.
