Cardiff under-18 have made 11 changes ahead of Wednesday’s Regional Age Grade Championship clash with Scarlets (KO 7.30pm).

Chadd Mutyambizi’s side head into the encounter at Parc y Scarlets with their 100 per cent record in-tact following victories over Ospreys and RGC.

The Blue and Blacks sit in second place in the table, behind the undefeated Dragons, who they will face in the final match of the campaign at Cardiff Arms Park on Wednesday, 16 February.

Tom Caple once again captains the side in Llanelli, but returns to the second row to link up with Rhys Burleton.

Cardiff and Vale College hooker Saul Hurley makes a return to the starting line-up, having featured in the opening day win over Ospreys. He is joined in the front row by Owen Popple and Mike Vaughn, who both make their first starts of the campaign.

Coleg y Cymoedd and Mountain Ash RFC’s Kenzie Jenkins, makes his first start on the blindside after two appearances from the bench.

Hartpury’s Harry Beddall and CAVC number eight, Lucas de la Rua – who was named Player of the Match against Ospreys – are reintroduced to the back row.

Jacob Symes makes his third consecutive start in the number 10 jersey, but has a new half back partner in Finn Charles.

Glantaf’s back three duo Jac Davies and Louis Rocherfort-Shugar also make their return to the starting XV, while Cardiff High School pupil Zak Wall is set for his first start in the Blue and Black jersey.

Ethan Rudyj, a try scorer against RGC, has a new half back partner in Sam Harris.

Talent pathway manager, Aled James, said: “As always, our priority with this campaign is to focus on development. We’re eager to give these boys a fair opportunity to gain valuable development opportunities and we’re excited to see the different combinations out there.

“Some boys come in after impressing in training, while others have shown glimpses of what they can do over the opening two games.

“It’s important to remember that the players are still in a process of getting back to normality following the pandemic but we’re pleased with the progress made.

“We’ve had an opportunity to review what went well and what needs to be worked on over the course of the two games, and we’re ready for two exciting challenges to round off the campaign.

“With potential international honours to follow later in the season, there is a chance to put a marker down and that will no doubt be motivation for these lads.”

Mutyambizi has plenty of exciting options from the bench, including the likes of Harper Chamberlain, Orson James and Morgan Bowen, who have impressed to date.

The match will be streamed live on S4C and Rygbi Pawb’s online channels.
