Cardiff Rugby have signed Gonzalo Bertranou on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The Argentina international linked up with the Blue and Blacks on Monday morning and will provide important strength and depth at scrum-half following the injury suffered by Tomos Williams and the departure of Jamie Hill.
Bertranou makes the short journey from Rodney Parade where he has been since February 2021, making 30 appearances for the Dragons.
Cardiff head coach, Matt Sherratt said: “It was important that we brought in some further quality at scrum-half following the injury to Tomos Williams and the departure of Jamie Hill.
“Gonzalo certainly fits that bill. He brings real quality, experience and professionalism in the position.
“He has more than 50 caps for Argentina, has captained them and is highly motivated to put in some big performances in Blue and Black. He’s trained today and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses here.”
Bertranou began his career with Los Tordos in the Torneo del Oeste, and progressed to Argentina Jaguares. He spent four years with their Super Rugby squad before moving onto the Dragons.
