Cardiff Rugby Under-18s have made five changes to the team for their WRU Regional Age-Grade Championship clash against reigning champions Scarlets at Church Bank, Llandovery on Sunday.

The young Blue & Blacks began their campaign with a 46-22 win against RGC on Sunday at the Arms Park.

There’s an all new front row, with Vinnay Cleak, Tom Howe and Sion Hill all coming into the starting XV, while Ben Bora starts at blindside flanker.

There is one change in the backs with Will Adams partnering Ioan Penry in the centre.

Cardiff Under-18 Head Coach, Josh Turnbull said: “Overall we were pleased with last week’s performance against RGC. They caused us some problems in the first-half but once we got our house in order and we showed more composure, we came away with a good result against a quality team.

“We now turn our attention to the Scarlets and it’s another opportunity for our youngsters to go and test themselves against a team that have been well coached and organised over the past couple of seasons.

“We’ve tried to keep changes minimal to maintain some consistency. All we ask is that the boys show the same effort and fight both sides of the ball, and that we go out and enjoy playing our brand of rugby.”

Turnbull’s former teammate, Sam Warburton has also been playing an increasing role in the club’s pathway due to his place on the board.

Warburton has shadowed the group over the past couple of weeks, attending training sessions and last weekend’s victory.

He said: “It was an excellent performance from the boys in the opening game, and there was some brilliant attacking rugby on display, similar to that of the first team.

“The standard at training has been very high, and we have already identified players who have the potential to become top professional players.

“Scarlets will be a big test, but if we show the same effort and attacking intent, we can come away with another win.”
