At our General Meeting on September 8, 2021, I was delighted to announce the Board of Cardiff Rugby has agreed to appoint a Supporter Advisor.
Supporters are a major stakeholder. They are the lifeblood of this club and it is important that we listen to their thoughts and concerns. In recent years we have forged much closer relations with the various supporter groups at Cardiff Arms Park. The time is now right to take that relationship further by appointing a Supporter Advisor who will attend Board meetings as an observer but have full speaking rights.
I hope that this appointment will change the dynamic between club and supporters from ‘us and them’ to ‘we’re all in it together’ and provide us with further insight into local fan culture and expectation.
We have developed a Role Description and Personal Specification which can be found here .
In summary, candidates will need to show their:
- Suitability and fulfilment of the Personal Specification ;
- Commitment to Cardiff Rugby over the years;
- Commitment to listen to and represent supporters;
- Communication skills.
Candidates wishing to apply for this role will need to complete the Nomination Form found here . This completed form and a CV must be returned no later than Monday, November 15 to:

Candidates will be democratically elected by supporters, namely, shareholders, Season Members, CF10 Rugby Trust members and Cardiff (Blues) Supporters Club members. Those supporters who are members of more than one of these groups will only be allowed one vote. The candidate elected will be the one with the highest number of votes.
We will provide further information on how to vote and the election process at a later date.
It is important that we ensure that the person elected by supporters is a ‘fit and proper person’ and suitable to sit around the Board table. We will therefore scrutinise applications before the election to ensure that this is the case
- Electronic voting will open – Monday, November 29
- Electronic voting will close – Monday, December 13
- Candidates will be notified – Wednesday, December 15
- Supporter Advisor Announced – Wednesday 8 December
The elected person will be appointed by the Board of Cardiff Rugby for a three-year term commencing January 1, 2022.
This is a major step forward in our continuing desire to strengthen the governance of Cardiff Rugby. We are excited by this unique appointment, which will be made democratically by supporters. I am grateful to CF10 Rugby Trust which has provided support and guidance to enable this appointment to happen.
I look forward to what I hope will be a constructive process.
Yours faithfully,
Alun Jones
Chairman
