Cardiff RFC have made a number of changes as they take on Carmarthen Quins in the final clash of their preparations ahead of the Indigo Group Premiership Cup campaign.
After a convincing victory over London Welsh at the Arms Park a fortnight ago, Steve Law’s men go head-to-head with familiar opponents at The Parc.
The Quins have also enjoyed their pre-season action to date, racking up victories over Aberystwyth, Chinnor and local rivals Llandovery.
Having featured for the first team against Harlequins last week, scrum half Ethan Lloyd will wear the Rags’ number nine jersey this week, linking up with Jack Maynard at half back.
Ryan Wilkins and Tom Hoppe continue their midfield partnership, while Barney Nightingale and James Beal joins academy full back Jacob Beetham in the back three.
Props Thomas Davies and Llyr Green will line-up either side of hooker Iestyn Harris in the front row.
Sean Moore, who also featured at Twickenham Stoop last week, comes into the second row alongside new signing Rory Bartle.
Former Cardiff University flanker, Alex Everett, and academy openside, Gwilym Bradley, are given the nod in the back row, with skipper Morgan Allen completing the pack.
Head coach, Law, said: “”This will be a tough challenge against strong Premiership opposition.
“Before the pandemic, the Quins were second in the league and the last time we visited the Parc, we were second best.
“It’s certainly a performance I won’t forget and I hope the players who were there remember that we did not reach the high standards we set ourselves.
“The squad have been working hard over the last few weeks and this game will show us how far we have come.
“We have a few changes from our game against London Welsh and this gives us an opportunity to look at all the options we have available to us.”
There is an exciting blend of youth and experience on the bench, with player/coach Dan Fish involved in the matchday squad, alongside Cardiff number eight Sam Moore.
Academy forwards Theo Bevacqua, Rhys Anstey – who made his senior debut last week – and Evan Lloyd and wing Jake Thomas, who crossed for four tries against London Welsh, are also among the replacements.
