Cardiff duo Amos and Lane drafted into Wales backline for Los Pumas Test

International | 8th July 2021

Cardiff duo Hallam Amos and Owen Lane have been drafted into the Wales backline ahead of Saturday's Test against Argentina (KO 1.00pm).

They are among the three changes made by Wayne Pivac for the first of two showdowns against Los Pumas.

Hallam Amos lines up at full back, replacing Leigh Halfpenny who suffered a serious knee injury in the summer opener against Canada, and is joined in the back three by club team-mate Lane, who is in line to win his third cap, having last featured in the Rugby World Cup Bronze Final against New Zealand.

The other changes sees Scarlets' Kieran Hardy introduced at scrum half, replacing Tomos Williams who is named on the bench alongside club half back partner, Jarrod Evans, who recovers from an ankle injury.

Willis Halaholo continues his midfield partnership with Jonathan Davies while Dillon Lewis and James Botham retain their place in the pack.

Josh Turnbull is named among the replacements, completing the total of eight Cardiff players involved in the matchday squad.

Head coach Pivac said: “Argentina provide the perfect opponents for us this weekend and are the exact test we want for this group of players.

“We will be tested up front and the physicality will be at a level that some of these players have not experienced before but that will answer a lot of questions for us as we build towards Rugby World Cup 2023.

“It’s great to play in Cardiff once again and we want to play an exciting brand of rugby, which will have supporters up off their feet. It promises to be a great occasion.”
