New Cardiff Blues Backs Coach, Billy Millard, visited the Arms Park for a catch up on how he was finding the new job.
Billy joined the Blues on a two year Assistant Coaching having worked as Head Coach of the Australian Sevens Rugby team and Backs Coach to the Australian A team. Speaking at the Arms Park Billy said,
It was a busy first week then the boys have had a break which has given me the chance to watch some games on DVD and get my head round the calling systems. The first training session was on my first day, when I didnt know some of the faces or names, which was hard but Ive enjoyed being here.
Ive been impressed with the players Ive seen. Theres a lot of experience and a lot of depth of talent particularly in the back line, which is really good, especially for competition for places and injury cover.
Apart from the free kick rule there wont be too much difference with the ELVs. Theres definitely more emphasis on the kicking duels and theres some good go forward off the scrums, with the defensive side standing back five metres. So there are a couple of changes but the players have been picking them up really quickly.
