Cardiff Blues will kick off the 2019/20 Guinness PRO14 season on the road with a trip to Port Elizabeth to take on Isuzu Southern Kings on Saturday, September, 28 (KO 3.00pm BST)
They return to home soil a week later to host Scottish outfit Edinburgh in the first of 10 home games at the Arms Park.
The first Welsh derby of the campaign will see John Mulvihill’s side travel to Liberty Stadium to take on Ospreys, kicking-off a trio of festive derbies, with Dragons (26 Dec) and Scarlets (3 Jan) both visiting the Arms Park.
With the west Wales regions nominated as the home sides at Judgement Day for the first time this season, the iconic Cardiff Arms Park will stage all three derby matches for the first time since 2008/09.
John Mulvihill is excited to welcome all three Welsh sides to the Arms Park and hopes his side are primed to kick off the season in style.
Mulvihill said: “It’s brilliant to have our PRO14 fixtures and we can’t wait to get out to South Africa for our first game in the Championship against the Kings.
“We have a longer pre-season than usual and the boys have been working really hard. That hard work will only continue and intensify as the weeks go by because it is vital that we hit the ground running.
“Our start to the season was disappointing last year so it is really important that we kick-off the season well, especially during the World Cup, and improve our form on the road.
“We have a real opportunity this year, but it is up to us to grasp it and put ourselves in a good position as the campaign progresses.
“It is also great to have all three Welsh derbies here at the Arms Park. We have some of the best supporters out there and there is nothing like a packed Cardiff Arms Park, especially against our nearest rivals.”
PRO14 have confirmed details for an unprecedented 20 rounds of fixtures, with the 21 and final round set to be confirmed in the New Year, with Wales’ Capital Region bringing their regular season to an end with a trip to take on Dragons.
Due to the Rugby World Cup taking place in Japan, with a host of PRO14 stars taking part in the global spectacle, the season will be starting later than usual and the details for the Finals Series will be confirmed in the near future.
However, if you are missing your regional fix, Cardiff Blues have got you covered as the Celtic Cup kicks on in August.
Tickets for all 10 Guinness PRO14 home fixtures, as well as the Celtic Cup and European Challenge Cup pool stage games, are included in Season Membership packages, which are available now.
