How long have you been watching Cardiff Blues?
60 years
When was your first game at Cardiff Arms Park and what can you remember about the occasion?
In the 60's and 70's I lived in Cardiff and in those days could watch Cardiff Rugby one Saturday and then Cardiff City in Ninian Park the following Saturday. One of my favourite games was obviously being taken to watch Cardiff beat the All Blacks in 1953.
Who was your first Cardiff Blues idol?
Gerald Davies
What is your all time favourite game?
As stated previously, the All Blacks game in 1953. It was a feat that has never been repeated and then watching Wales beat them afterwards was the icing on the cake.
Which season stands out as your favourite?
When we won the European Challenge Cup.

How long have you been watching Cardiff Blues?

When was your first game at Cardiff Arms Park and what can you remember about the occasion?
Pontypool at home. It was a nine-all draw. The gates were closed early and there were fans climbing the trees on the banks of the Taff, before the boxes were built.
The atmosphere was loud, tribal and intoxicating. My dad has wanted us to go to sport together but didn’t think the culture at Ninian park was appropriate for kids so took me to the rugby. He decided we’d be rugby fans and he was right. I was hooked. It’s an occasion I have never forgotten. Still stand on the south terrace as I did then.
Who was your first Cardiff Blues idol?
Mark Ring and Mike Rayer. I loved Terry Holmes and was devastated when he went north. Since then there have been many from Nigel Walker through to Martyn Williams, Fa’ao, Rhys Patchell and now Tomos Williams. But Ringo and Rayer are top of my tree.
What is your all time favourite game?
Tough one. I loved the old cup finals, particularly when Mikey Rayer slid in to beat Llanelli and that semi in St Helens where Rob Howley and Nigel Walker again beat Llanelli. Gloucester at Twickenham was pretty perfect as have been many of our wins against French sides in Europe. Stuffing Ospreys at Judgement Day was great too, however I’d say Bilbao is top of the tree. Not just for the ending but for the comeback, the quality of the tries and because I was there. A wonderful weekend.
Which season stands out as your favourite?
The rebel season was great, as was Alex Evans’ league-winning year. Loved the season we made the Heineken Cup semi against Leicester. It’s tough to select a specific season especially these days when int rugby breaks them up so often.
Who do you consider to be Cardiff Blues biggest rivals?
Ospreys
What was your favourite Cardiff Blues jersey?
The blue and dark blue kit from a few seasons ago is my favourite. Before the rebrand I’d say the AT&T kit was pretty gorgeous as was the old quarters kit. As for the alternative I’d say the fila kit we wore when Dan Baugh and Craig Quinnell ran riot against Saracens.
