Cardiff Blues take on Heineken Cup champions Leinster this Saturday as they aim to get back in the top four.

The Blues kick off 2012 at the Cardiff City Stadium when they take on Heineken Champions, Leinster, on Saturday at 6.15pm. The Blues have been victorious in their last four home games at the City Stadium but strangely have won just one of their last four matches against the Irish provinces at the venue.

Meanwhile, Leinster have won their last seven encounters in all competitions, since their 16-16 draw in Montpellier in the European Cup on 12 November.

Speaking ahead of the match Cardiff Blues forwards coach Justin Burnell said,

“Our first match at the Cardiff City Stadium in 2012 couldn’t come much tougher than against Leinster. They are the Heineken Cup champions and to me the standard bearers of northern hemisphere rugby.”

“They are star studded outfit, with a fantastic mixture and when I watched their game against Bath it seems that every time they had the ball they looked threatening,” added Burnell.

Leinster sit proudly atop the RaboDirect PRO12 table, having won their last nine games in the tournament.

“They score a lot of tries, as do we, so there are two teams who try to play an expansive game. It should be an entertaining encounter,” continued Burnell.

“I think that Leinster are setting the standards of how rugby should be played so we are looking forward to taking them on.”

Family tickets for the match, priced at £24 for two adults and two children, are available by calling the ticket office on 0845 345 1400.
