Danny Wilson admitted it was great to see Gareth Anscombe back in action as the Wales international stepped off the bench to play his part in a stunning fight-back in London.
Anscombe has been out of action for three months after suffering injury in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final to South Africa.
But the young back was an impressive second half replacement at Twickenham Stoop as Cardiff Blues battled back from 28-0 down to narrowly lose out 34-26 and claim a try bonus point.
“It was great to see Gareth back out there,” said Wilson. “I thought he looked good and looked to use different attacking options in our game.
“He hasn’t had much time to fit into our game, but it is great to have him back out on the field.
“Like all these boys, it will take him time to get the lungs and the legs going to that level of intensity. But we all know what calibre of player he is and it was great to see him back out there.
“Hopefully we will see Sam (Warburton) back next week too and I’m hopefully he will come through this short week. If he passes the relevant tests he will be available for selection.”
