Boss calls for fan power for European clash

28th November 2014

Boss Mark Hammett admitted his Cardiff Blues were now looking forward to two massive games with London Irish in the Europe - and called on fans to pack out BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park for the game next weekend.

Blues defeated Benetton Treviso 36-25 in bonus point fashion to gear up for a return to European Rugby Challenge Cup action in impressive fashion.

Hammer revealed Blues would now relish the European double header with the Exiles – with a home clash first up next Saturday (kick-off 3.15pm).

“Our approach is always to win and these next two games are big,” he said.

“We’ve had a good look at London Irish and they play with really good width and I was quite impressed. They will be huge games and I hope we get a huge crowd here for the first game.”

Hammer also revealed his hopes that Wales skipper Sam Warburton would be available for selection adding: “I’ve spoken to Warby and he is keen to get back in.

“I spoke to him before the South Africa game so let’s re-assess after that – so let’s hope Wales win and Warby gets through the game really well.

“We are very fortunate in that we have Josh Navidi and Ellis Jenkins who are both superb sevens in their own right. But it would be nice to have that leadership around too.”
