bmibaby, the largest low cost carrier from Wales has today launched phase two of its winter programme from Cardiff International Airport.
The airline has introduced a new route from the airport for the winter season to Barcelona, plus increased frequencies to Belfast and Glasgow International. Flights are available for travel from 26th October 2008 until 28th March 2009.
To meet increasing consumer demand, frequencies have been increased on key domestic routes to Belfast International and Glasgow International. bmibaby will now offer double daily flights to Belfast during the week, versus one flight per day last winter, plus eight flights a week to Glasgow. The airline will also offer 13 flights a week to Edinburgh.
In total bmibaby, the official airline to Cardiff Blues, will fly to 13 European destinations this winter: Alicante, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belfast International, Edinburgh, Faro, Geneva, Glasgow International, Jersey, Malaga, Murcia, Palma and Warsaw.
Crawford Rix, managing director, bmibaby, said: I am pleased to announce phase two of bmibabys winter programme from Cardiff International Airport. We have 13 great European destinations to choose from including new winter flights to Barcelona.
We are also ramping up the number of weekly flights on some of our key domestic routes with a double daily service to Belfast International, eight flights a week to Glasgow and 13 flights per week to Edinburgh Airport, a great benefit for business passengers.
bmibaby continue to be the only airline at Cardiff Airport pioneering truly low fares on domestic and European routes with flights starting from just £18.99 one way, including taxes and charges. We remain committed to developing and expanding our services at Cardiff International Airport and more news will be announced over the coming months as we put our growth plans into action.
Patrick Duffy, managing director, Cardiff International Airport, said: Further to the release of bmibabys first stage of winter flights we are pleased to see a further commitment to Cardiff with the release of stage 2. This resolute commitment comes during a difficult economic climate and increased services to both Glasgow and Belfast show the strength of domestic travel in the south Wales market.
