Players from the Cardiff Blues Rugby Club have launched RSPB Cymru's first ever-fundraising bike ride.
Leigh Halfpenny, Dai Flanagan, Chris Czekaj, and Dafydd Hewitt are asking Cardiff residents to get involved in the event, where they will be able to enjoy some exercise and wildlife while raising money for our birds.
Cardiff Blues Centre, Dafydd Hewitt, said: "Our training schedules are quite intense but when we have time off in the summer we all like to cycle, it's a great way to get fit and enjoy the countryside at the same time.
"With this being the first event of its kind organised by RSPB Cymru, we hope we can encourage as many people in Cardiff as possible to join in and raise funds for the great conservation work they do."
Julie George, Community Fundraising Officer for RSPB Cymru, who is organising the event, said: "The bike ride trail is a traffic free path and so perfect for all the family. Those taking part do not have to ride the full route as any distance makes a difference. It promises to be a fun day out, where everyone can learn more about the wildlife that lives along the Taff trail.
The event will take place on Sunday, 6 June, from 10am until 12noon. The route begins and finishes at West Lodge Gate in Bute Park. It is approx 15km long and follows the footpath through the park linking on the Taff Trail at Blackweir to Hailey Park.
On the day, RSPB Cymru staff and volunteers will be dotted around the trail ready to show riders what wildlife can be found.
