Cardiff Blues fans had the opportunity to watch the first team squad train when they visited Llanharan RFC on Monday.

This was the fist time for fans to see new recruit Paul Tito who had flown over from New Zealand on Saturday as well as other new signings Jason Spice, Tal Selley, Richie Rees as well as the return of Maama Molitika to Blues colours.

The squad were put through their paces by Rob Howley, Trystan Bevan and Dan Baugh with Head Coach David Young looking on and describing to the crowd the different drills that the players were carrying out.

Following a gruelling session on the tackle bags and some games of touch rugby the players finished off with a signing session for the youngsters who were obviously delighted to have had the chance to see the Blues stars train on their local pitch.

Speaking after the session New Zealand lock Tito was obviously glad to have finally arrived in Wales.

“It’s my first day and it’s been tough because I’ve had a long break. But I have a month to get fit so that’s OK.”

“I’ve talked to Xavier Rush and Jason Spice about Welsh rugby and I’ve also been watching the Blues play on the rugby channel back in New Zealand.”

“From what I saw at the end of last season they are getting more and more expansive. That’s good because that suits my game.”

“I felt I played the best rugby of my life in the Super 14 last season, but this is a different scene for me and I hope it will help make me a better player.”

“I just want to get among the boys and learn quickly.”

Paul Tito and the rest of the Blues squad will be holding another open training session at Taffs Well next Monday. The session kicks off at 6.30pm and is open to all.
