Blues pay tribute to CD Williams

Cardiff Blues is saddened to hear the news that Cardiff RFC legend and former Wales international Charles Derek 'CD' Williams has passed away.

C D Williams was born Cardiff 1924 and was a grand back row forward, a fine athlete in fact in 1948 carried the Olympic torch into Wembley Stadium.

He played 248 games for Cardiff between 1945 /46 and 1958 /59 scoring 43 tries. He gained two Welsh caps playing for Wales, making his debut against France in Colombes 1955 his final international was in Cardiff against France in 1956.

He represented the Barbarians against Leicester in 1958/59 and gained a Varsity "Blue" at Oxford.

A member of Rugby Committee from 1974/75, he was President of Cardiff Athletic Club until his sad passing.
