The Blues now travel to Treviso for the first time to face an inform Benetton Treviso team, who have already claimed two notable scalps, beating the Scarlets in the opening weekend and Leinster last Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the match Cardiff Blues Director of Rugby, David Young said,
“It’s no surprise to me that Benetton Treviso are picking up results and it looks like there’s a great atmosphere out there.”
“We’re really looking forward to the match. We know it’s going to be a big test for us and we are certainly are not going to underestimate Treviso.”
“We will have to play somewhere near our best to come away with some points.”
“They have already shown they are a quality team and they have Heineken Cup pedigree.”
“They have a big, heavy pack, which is typically Italian, with a good scrum and very effective lineout.”
“They play a very direct type of game and take the game to you.”
“We have to make sure we don’t give them that platform in our half on which to attack.”
“It is a little bit of the unknown for us as we have only seen them on DVD and we’ve never played them.”
“Obviously we are familiar with some of their players, as they are internationals, but it will be different for us, however, come Friday hopefully it will be more about us than about them.”
