Cardiff, Wales and British Isles legend Bleddyn Williams has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year's Honours List.
Mr Williams is currently President of Cardiff Athletic Club and is widely respected in the world of rugby both as a player and as an ambassador.
He captained Cardiff in 1949-50 and again in 1953-54 when he led the club to a famous victory over the All Blacks. A month later he also captained Wales to another triumph over New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park.
In a glittering career he scored 185 tries in 283 games for Cardiff, won 22 caps for Wales with an unbeaten record in five games as captain, and toured Australia and New Zealand with the Lions in 1950. He captained the British Isles in three of his five test appearances in Australasia.
Bleddyn Williams was known as 'the Prince of Centres' and after he retired became the rugby correspondent of The People newspaper.
