Cardiff Rugby can confirm Ben Murphy has left the region to join Doncaster Knights in the English Championship.

The second-row is a product of the regional pathway system and represented Cardiff throughout the age-grades before making an impression as Merthyr won the Welsh Premiership.

Murphy made his senior debut during the 2017-18 season and has gone on to make 19 first team appearances. However, with opportunities limited, he has been allowed to leave his contract at Cardiff early to make the switch to Castle Park.

The 25-year-old leaves Cardiff Arms Park with the thanks and best wishes of everyone at the club.

Murphy said: “I’ve loved every minute of my time at Cardiff and I’d like to thank all the players, the coaches and everyone who has supported me during my time at the club.

“I’ve made some great memories with some great people, but I’m now looking forward to making new ones at Doncaster and facing a fresh challenge. I’m excited to link up with the boys at Castle Park and want to contribute as much as I possibly can to the team.”
