Director of Rugby Mark Hammett has confirmed Argentina international duo Lucas Amorosino and Joaquin Tuculet are in contention for a return for Cardiff Blues – but scrum half Lloyd Williams will miss the festive period after breaking a bone in his hand.
Tuculet, who scored a sensational try on his home debut last month against Benetton Treviso, and winger Amorosino have both missed the European double header with London Irish as they were not registered.
But the attacking duo are now back in the selection picture to hand Hammett a back line selection dilemma ahead of the big Guinness PRO12 derby clash with Scarlets this Friday at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park (kick-off 7.35pm).
“Joaquin and Lucas are back and are in contention for the game. They have been working hard on the training field and will be keen to get back out for us,” said Hammett.
“We will be missing Lloyd (Williams) who has fractured a bone. It won’t be long term, we are talking a matter of weeks, but it will keep him out.
“Sam (Warburton) is available but Rhys (Patchell) is not yet. He is tracking well though and we are looking at Leinster and, if all goes well, maybe even the second game with the Dragons.
“It will be good to be back at home in the Guinness PRO12,” he added. “The last three games at home there has been a real air of intensity with the way we have played and we want to continue that in front of our passionate fans on the first derby day.”
