Cardiff academy lock Rhys Anstey has linked up with Ealing Trailfinders with immediate effect.
The Gwernyfed RFC product, whose deal was due to expire at the end of the season, will join the English Championship leaders for the final months of their campaign.
Anstey has made a total of two first team appearances for Cardiff, with both coming from the bench in the memorable Heineken Champions Cup double header against Toulouse and Harlequins in December 2021.
The lock also represented the club’s age grade sides and has been a regular in the Cardiff RFC side in the Indigo Group Premiership this season.
Academy manager Gruff Rees said: “We've really enjoyed having Rhys in the academy group over the past few seasons, and it's testament to his development that he's grown to become an important member of the Cardiff RFC squad.
“However, a switch to Ealing gives him an exciting opportunity to forge a professional career in rugby and Rhys departs with our very best wishes.
"He was due to link up with Ealing in the summer, when his contract expires, but the opportunity arose for that move to be made with immediate effect.
“Despite his form for the Rags, the individual's welfare is our priority, and we're happy to put the player first. We're looking forward to watching him continue his development both on and off the field."
