Nick Macleod scored over 100 points for Cardiff under-21 in 2001-02 and was well on his way to repeating the feat in the following season only to be sidelined for five months with a shoulder injury. He had to be satisfied with a still impressive 76 points in six games and an appearance as a replacement for Wales under-21 against New Zealand. When he did return to fitness in the spring of 2003 he was fast-tracked back into the senior team for whom he had first played against Cambridge University in November 2001. Nick was called up to the Welsh squad Nick made his try scoring debut for the Blues against Glasgow in September 2003.
