Nick Williams has pointed to Cardiff Blues' mental fortitude after they hung on for a well-earned Guinness PRO14 victory over Munster last weekend.
The Blues led 19-0 following three quick-fire tries from Macauley Cook, Lloyd Williams and Owen Lane but the Irish province battled back.
It was tooth and nail in the second-half as Munster cut the Blues’ lead to just four points but they closed the game out to claim a second consecutive victory over a team above them in the Conference A table
Williams said: “It’s good to come away with the win especially against a Munster team that’s going so well – I’m really happy for the boys.
“I spoke to some reporters last week and said how Munster are always a team who you can never get away from.
“We needed to score more points rather than defend the lead but thankfully we got of the line in the end.
“But it was a bit of good old toughness, a bit of old school mentality to get that win.
“A bit of ticker, a bit of heart always goes a long way. You can have all the skill and fitness you want but when it comes down to it rugby is a game about manning up.”
Cardiff Blues travel to face Zebre in Parma this weekend but return to the Arms Park on Friday, March 2 (7.35pm) when they host Benetton Treviso.
