Sam Warburton is in line to return to action in Friday's European Challenge Cup clash with Pau at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
The Wales captain suffered a fractured cheekbone against Leinster at the beginning of the month and subsequently had surgery.
But it is hoped he could feature on Friday as Wales’ Capital Region look to make it two from two in Europe following last weekend’s bonus-point win at Bristol.
Speaking following the victory, head coach Danny Wilson said: “At the moment we are on track with Warby but we will see how he responds to training at the start of the week and go from there.
“He has made good progress, he’s itching to get back out there and there might be an opportunity for him if he passes all the tests he needs to.”
Wilson was also pleased with the comeback of Alex Cuthbert. The wing has been stuck by two groin injuries this season but returned at Ashton Gate.
He got on the scoresheet as the Blues kicked-off their campaign in style and will be looking to build on the performance against Pau.
Wilson added: “It’s great to see Alex out there. He’s had a bit of bad luck and it’s good to see him get through a game.
“His work-rate is phenomenal, he covers so much ground and showed that against Bristol.”
