Wales Under 19s keep championship hopes alive

9th April 2006

Wales Under-19 went into their must-win clash with Scotland in Dubai today (5.00 pm BST) with six changes from the side beaten by the junior All Blacks in their IRB Under-19 World Championship opener on Wednesday.

"We made six changes but the thinking behind that is to look at different combinations while giving everyone an opportunity to stake their claim - there is still a long way to go in this tournament."

Wales completed a five-try win, with the final score 35-5. However Head coach Justin Burnell accepts that his side must still beat Romania in style in order to progress.

"After the defeat by New Zealand we know we need maximum points, including the bonus points" said Burnell.
